How Do I Become a Disciple?


Zion Baptist Church will welcome any person(s) who love and confess the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and who commit to live in accordance with the Church Covenant

A person may become a disciple by any of the following ways:

Baptism
– Acceptance upon profession of faith in Jesus Christ and having been baptized by immersion. 

Christian Experience
– Acceptance upon profession of faith in Jesus Christ and an indication of previous baptism by immersion. 

Transfe
r – Acceptance of a written communication from a Believer’s former church, indicating previous membership in that church, and, an indication by the person of previous baptism by immersion. 

Restoration
– Acceptance of a previous disciple of Zion Baptist Church back into active membership upon declaration to the Congregation or the Pastor or the Diaconate of intention to renew their covenant with the Church. 

Watch Care
– Temporary non-voting status given by request of a Believer and reviewed by the Diaconate within 6 months to 1 year from the date on which request was granted. Upon request of the Believer, the status may be changed to discipleship by Baptism, Christian Experience, or Transfer, based on conditions set forth for these categories.


During each Worship Service, at the conclusion of the Sermon, the Pastor extends an “Invitation to Christian Discipleship.”

At that time, any person desiring to become a disciple of Jesus Christ and unite with Zion Baptist Church in either of the ways as described may voluntarily come forward and be received and counseled by the Deacons and the Pastor.
