What We Believe

Our Faith

As Baptists in Zion Baptist Church, we believe in:

THE BIBLE
as the errorless Word of God and only basis of faith and practice;

THE TRINITY as the one God revealed in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit;

THE HUMAN RACE as one race of persons created in the image of God, fallen in sin, and only
       reconciled through personal faith in Jesus Christ;

THE DEITY OF JESUS CHRIST as the Son of God, born of a virgin, co-equal with the Father and the
       Holy Spirit;

THE DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST ON THE CROSS that paid the debt of humanity’s sin; and made
       provision for salvation and every blessing for those who have faith in Him;

THE BODILY RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST that is the pattern of the resurrection of all
       believers;

THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST as personal, visible and soon-coming;

THE PATH OF JESUS CHRIST
as the way, the truth, and the life to God the Father;

THE PRESENT-DAY MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
as necessary for Christian living and no
       different from His work throughout the Bible;

THE CHURCH as manifested in local assemblies of baptized believers whose scriptural officers
       include Bishops (Pastors) and Deacons;

TITHING as the scripturally stated obligation of all believers, in response to God’s command;

THE ORDINANCES of Baptism (by immersion) and Holy Communion (the Lord’s Supper) as
       symbols of salvation and the suffering and death of our Savior, that we are admonished to observe
        by Jesus Christ;

THE PRIESTHOOD OF ALL BELIEVERS as every Christian has direct access to God through
      Jesus Christ, our High Priest;

THE VICTORY OF THE CHURCH over every enemy of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, the power
        of the Holy Spirit, and prevailing prayer.
